Derek Hughes_Iconic Park View Taranaki is simply a great place to live. Inspiration is all around us. I present photographs of places we see every day captured to make viewers react with “I haven’t seen it look like that”. Or “Wow, that is so cool”. Pukekura Park: the Bridge, the Mountain, add in Autumn colour and you have a spectacular scene. By reducing the photograph to monochrome but retaining the warm hues we are drawn to Poet’s Bridge while still retaining the strength of the classic NZ Ponga and the ever present mountain surrounded by pure white pristine clouds. An image captured as a result of always having my camera for company even when just dropping into the Tea House for coffee. Derek Hughes_Shadows, Back Beach Taranaki is simply a great place to live. Inspiration is all around us. I present photographs of places we see every day captured to make viewers react with “I haven’t seen it look like that”. Or “Wow, that is so cool”. Back Beach: one of New Plymouth’s stunning beaches. Whether surfing, walking, chasing the dog or simply enjoying the view this is a great spot. The couple and their dog in the evening glow plus the multitude of footprints in the sand tells us how popular this beach is. There is a sense of warmth and peaceful pleasure in this image.
