ABOUT THE EXHIBITION //
Reflect. Connect. Gather Light.
Experience Gathering Light: Journeys & Reflections, a thoughtfully curated contemporary art exhibition at The Collaboration in Ngāmotu, New Plymouth.
Inspired by the season of Matariki and Puanga, this exhibition brings together original artworks that explore the journeys we take throughout our lives — the people we meet, the landscapes that shape us, the memories we carry, and the hope we gather as we look towards the future.
Featuring a diverse collection of original paintings, sculpture, mixed media, contemporary fibre art, and handcrafted works, the exhibition celebrates the creativity of artists connected to Taranaki and Aotearoa New Zealand. Each artwork offers a unique perspective while inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and connect with stories of place, identity, resilience, and belonging.
Whether you’re an experienced art collector, purchasing your first original artwork, searching for a meaningful gift, or simply looking for inspiring things to do in New Plymouth this winter, Gathering Light offers an opportunity to discover exceptional New Zealand artists in an intimate gallery setting.
Every artwork in the exhibition is available to purchase, allowing you to take home a piece that resonates with your own journey while directly supporting independent artists and creative practice in Aotearoa.
We invite you to slow down, immerse yourself in the stories behind each artwork, and experience a collection that celebrates creativity, connection, and the enduring power of art to bring people together.
