Inspired by the season of Matariki and Puanga, Gathering Light: Journeys & Reflections is a curated exhibition celebrating the stories that shape us and the connections that guide us forward.
Bringing together artists from across Aotearoa New Zealand, this collection explores themes of reflection, memory, movement, belonging, and hope through contemporary painting, mixed media, sculpture, and textile practice. Each artwork offers a personal interpretation of journey, inviting visitors to pause, connect, and discover new perspectives.
From expressive abstract landscapes to intimate narratives inspired by people, place, and nature, the exhibition celebrates the diversity of contemporary New Zealand art while honouring the significance of gathering together during this reflective season.
Whether you’re an experienced collector, discovering original art for the first time, or simply looking for inspiring things to do in New Plymouth, Gathering Light offers an opportunity to experience exceptional artworks and connect directly with the artists behind them.
Original artworks are available to purchase throughout the exhibition, supporting independent artists from across Aotearoa.
