The journey of life is not a straight path, and is often filled with unexpected twists and turns and barries that often need to be overcome. Many experiences may be negative, and create a feeling of darkness – the challenge is turning these events into something positive, or turning the darkness into brightness. Rodriguez’s work explores this concept through the use of bright colours contrasted onto black. The randomness of colours symbolises the experiences of life, and often each decision a person makes (often without realising it) impacts their life’s direction. The twists in the work symbolises unexpected difficulties surrounded by the darkness trying to drag one down into deppresiveness, with the twists returning to a straight line showing that struggles in life are temporary, and that tomorrow will be a better and brighter day.
