This exploration finds a natural home in the season of Matariki. As the star cluster rises, marking a period of reflection, remembrance, and the promise of new beginnings, the veil between the seen and the unseen grows thin. Matariki invites us to look upward to guide our journey; similarly, my work seeks to reflect the spiritual energy that exists just beyond the reach of the physical world. By painting the “hidden spectrum” of our flora and landscape, I aim to bridge the gap between our physical surroundings and our ancestral connection to the cosmos. Prisma Obscurum is an invitation to pause, to look beyond the surface of the land, and to witness the celestial light that binds our collective history to our future. In this cycle of light and darkness, we find the perspective necessary to begin again.
