Lolita Lorenzo is the design brainchild of Carol Muthiga. A Kenyan-American artist and designer, Muthiga is inspired by rich colour palettes, vibrant patterns found in the textile markets of her birth country, numerology, naturally occurring geometry, and modern fashion houses like Chanel and Vogue.

Named for her daughters, Lolita Lorenzo collages often depict versions of an “intergalactic Afrofuturistic time-traveling woman warrior.” Modern-day heroines and Black cultural icons are also predominantly featured in her works.

The radically empowering image reproduced in Pomegranate’s “In Plain Sight” jigsaw puzzle combines a cornucopia of textiles to create a fully immersive ambiance. Once the puzzle is completed, the original moiré of the printed matter incorporated in her collage is visible.
