THE WORLD I CARRY WITHIN I arrived carrying a life already in motion: questions, longings, unfinished conversations, things still unfolding beneath the surface. There were days when distance seemed to dissolve. Edges softened. Paths disappeared. The world revealed itself only in fragments, suspended between presence and disappearance. What could not be seen became as important as what could. Gradually, the urge to understand gave way to something quieter: attention. Water, birdsong, forest, silence. Again and again, I found myself drawn into a slower rhythm. Not one that offered answers, but one that made space. Space for listening. Space for uncertainty. Space for what had been waiting, often unnoticed, beneath the noise of everyday life. The forests revealed a different kind of wisdom. Nothing striving to become something else. Nothing forcing its way forward. Each living thing devoted to its own becoming, yet inseparable from the larger whole. I began to recognize that same movement within myself. My attention shifted away from what I could not control and toward what was asking to be nurtured. Some things needed light. Others needed time. Others simply needed presence. I came to understand that certain things grow in silence: a way of seeing, a way of attending to the world, a deeper relationship with what moves us. Like a forest, these changes rarely arrive all at once. They gather slowly, almost imperceptibly, until one day we realize that it is not only the landscape that has changed, but the way we inhabit it. These works emerge from a world I cultivated in order to return to myself. They are fragments of an inner forest: traces of memory, presence, roots, water, and light. Glimpses of a place that took shape slowly through attention, contemplation, and all that quietly took root along the way. Over time, that forest became more than a refuge. It became fertile ground. A place to return to. A place where new seeds could emerge, where others could complete their cycle and return to the earth, and where even in the quietest seasons something continued to grow beneath the surface. The World I Carry Within is the name I give to that living place. A forest shaped by what I have loved, lost, imagined, witnessed, and chosen to nurture. Not a destination, but an ongoing act of cultivation. Not something found, but something created. What I carry forward is not a landscape, but a living relationship with that place. A world that now travels with me.
