They speak within us, inside the home of our heart. The words we use hold power, physically and emotionally challenging our thoughts which may lead to the spiralling of patterns that bind us to our story. A narrative where words can either hurt or heal us.
With the use of embroidery, I show the emotions and repetitive patterns that bind us to who we are, much like a mantra repeating in the mind. The act of sewing is a process of emotional repair, unpicking and restitching along the way. Visually subtle work may hold deep meaning and thought much like the invisible chatter that echoes within, each stitch containing a multitude of emotions.
These words are a collection of memory and emotions held within the seams of ordinary objects that bring me home to myself, a reminder to be mindful and present with my inner dialogue and allow space for healing.
